When it comes to alcoholic drinks, most people assume that the higher the percentage of alcohol, the higher the number of calories. However, this isn’t always the case. In fact, some alcoholic drinks have fewer calories than others.
So which ones should you be reaching for if you’re trying to watch your weight? Here’s a list of five alcohols with the least amount of calories.
- 1 glass of champagne: 95 calories
- 1 glass of chardonnay: 123 calories
- 1 Aperol spritz: 125 calories
- 1 schooner apple cider: 148 calories
- 1 schooner full-strength beer: 175 calories
And for a few extra tips for this festive season….
Don’t eat less to compensate for the calories in your alcohol. Instead, go to your event with a plan around how much food and alcohol you want to consume and stick to it. Better still, eat something before you head out to prevent the calories that result from over eating or the late night binge!
Another great tip is to have a glass of water or soda water between each alcoholic drink to keep yourself hydrated and to minimise the calorie intake from those sugar laden beverages.
